WHO IS PETER?

Peter Blacklock was the founder of Ida and Old Baldy’s Seniors’ Theatre and it’s his vision, creativity, boundless energy and passion for his art that keeps us entertained and enthused in the program year after year.

I have spent my career in drama and education as a teacher, administrator, writer, and actor. Following my retirement teaching in the public school system of British Columbia, I completed my work writing a musical production built around the life of painter and writer Emily Carr. That show was first produced as a festival piece in the Shuswap and the Okanagan.

Since then I have gone on write numerous shows for Shuswap Theatre and the summer dinner theatre productions for Haney Heritage Village. This spring my play entitled “A Very Silly Script” was produced by the Pend’Oreille Players in Newport, Washington and won the First Place Playwrights Award. I have had one play published by Big Dog Publishing in Florida

I am currently under contract with Asparagus Theatre Company in Armstrong, B.C. to write a musical show for their 100th anniversary celebration in 2013. I have run summer theatre camps for young actors in a number of locations in the Kootenays and in the winter of 2012 began a weekly daytime theatre program for seniors.
